Whichever way you choose, YOU MUST STILL MAIL ADDITIONAL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION AND PAYMENT OF MEMBERSHIP DUES.

Failure to submit the required documentation will delay your application.

VERY IMPORTANT: All applicants must MAIL the following items to CAPA's Membership Chair at the address shown below in order for membership application to be accepted, approved and activated:

(1) completed and signed VERIFICATION OF FULFILLMENT OF MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA (for Voting, Associate, and Student applications) or SUSTAINING MEMBER PROFILE INFORMATION (for Sustaining applications) - PLEASE NOTE: The VERIFICATION OF FULFILLMENT OF MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA form is NOT the application form -- if you do not apply online below, you must MAIL the Application Form with the VERIFICATION OF FULFILLMENT OF MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA form;

(2) (INITIAL APPLICATIONS ONLY- not required for renewals) all required supporting documentation set forth in the VERIFICATION OF FULFILLMENT OF MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA; and

(3) check payable to the Capital Area Paralegal Association as follows (INITIAL APPLICATIONS ONLY please add $10.00 for the initiation fee):

(a) For application initiated between January 1 and June 30: payment of 100% of annual membership dues and the $10.00 initiation fee; or

(b) For application initiated between July 1 and October 31: payment of ONE-HALF of annual membership dues and the $10.00 initiation fee; or

(c) For application initiated between November 1 and December 31: payment of 100% of annual membership dues and the $10.00 initiation fee -- membership will extend through December 31 of the following year.

None of the information on this application will be released to any source outside CAPA, the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas, the National Association of Legal Assistants, Inc., or the Texas Alliance of Paralegal Associations, except as authorized by the CAPA Board of Directors."

A Voting Member - $50.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No recurring payments ______________
QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for Voting Membership, the applicant must:

(1) be currently employed as a paralegal / legal assistant or working at
least 30 hours per week as a freelance paralegal / legal assistant, AND

(2) meet ONE of the following criteria:

(a) have received a four-year degree;
(b) have completed a paralegal program;
(c) have five (5) years of paralegal experience; or
(d) have received NALA, NFPA, or TBLS certification.

All new and renewing Voting Membership applicants are REQUIRED
TO COMPLETE THE VERIFICATION OF FULFILLMENT OF MEMBERSHIP
CRITERIA FOR VOTING MEMBERSHIP AND SUPERVISING ATTORNEY
VERIFICATION.

Applicants applying under (d) MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF THE
CERTIFICATE; those applying under (a) or (b) MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF
THEIR TRANSCRIPT OR A SIGNED, NOTARIZED STATEMENT FROM
THE REGISTRAR OF THE SCHOOL OF ATTENDANCE. Applicants
applying under (c) MUST SUBMIT SUFFICIENT ATTORNEY VERIFICATIONS
TO TOTAL FIVE YEARS PARALEGAL EXPERIENCE.

Evidence of qualifications (a) through (d) above are required at the time
of INITIAL application ONLY.

Associate Member - $30.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No recurring payments ______________
QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for Associate Membership, the applicant:
(i) must be employed as a paralegal but has not yet satisfied the
requirements of Voting Membership,
(ii) is presently employed as a coordinator of the paralegal program in a
law firm, governmental agency, or corporate legal department,
(iii) is not currently employed as a paralegal but has completed a paralegal
training program, or
(iv) has previously been employed as a paralegal but is not
employed at the time of application.

Applicants requesting Associate Member status are REQUIRED TO
COMPLETE THE VERIFICATION OF MEMBERSHIP FULFILLMENT OF
CRITERIA AND EMPLOYMENT STATUS FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERS.

Student Member - $25.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No recurring payments ______________
QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for Student Membership, the applicant
must be currently enrolled in a paralegal/legal assistant/lawyer's
assistant program and is REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF
ENROLLMENT ON THE STUDENT PROGRAM VERIFICATION. Upon
completion of the training program and receipt of a certificate thereof,
a Student Member may either immediately submit a change of
status form to apply for Voting Membership or Associate Membership,
or apply for Voting Membership or Associate Membership at the
beginning of the next calendar year.

Sustaining Member - $75.00 (USD) Bundle (up to 6 members) Subscription period: 1 year, on: January 1st No recurring payments ______________
QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for Sustaining Membership, the
applicant must be a lawyer, law firm, agency, paralegal training
program, business, or institution which shares the purposes of
CAPA as set forth in Article II of CAPA's Bylaws.

SOLICITATION AND PRIVACY POLICY: No member of CAPA
shall distribute, sell, or otherwise make membership lists
available to non-CAPA members without prior Board approval.
